The Digital Arts Group of the New Jersey Photography Forum presents a group photography exhibit: Digital New Jersey from October 2 through 28 at the Madison Library in the Chase Room Gallery. Group members will be showing photos, taken in New Jersey, for which digital capture, processing and printing were an important part of the creative process.
"This exhibit highlights the digital workflow that has revolutionized photography in the 21st century," said exhibit curator Tom Judd of Madison. "The participating artists encompass a wide range of style and process, but all of us embrace digital technology to create photographic art through the synthesis of camera and computer. Our work will showcase how sophisticated digital tools and processes are now readily available to professionals and amateurs alike."
The exhibit is free and open to the public during the normal working hours of the Madison Library at 39 Keep Street in Madison, NJ, subject to the availability of the Chase Room auditorium. A free "meet the artists" reception will be held in the Chase Room on Saturday, October 15, 2011 from 2 to 4 pm.
The Digital Arts Group is a photographic-arts discussion group with a mission to further the understanding and application of digital imaging, manipulation, and printing technologies. This special-interest group meets monthly at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey in Summit to discuss topics of mutual interest, to share experiences and best practices, to exhibit and critique images, and to further the understanding of digital photographic techniques among its members.
The DAG grew out of the New Jersey Photography Forum that also meets at the same location monthly and is dedicated to furthering the interests of professional and serious amateur fine-art photographers. In 17 years, the Forum has become the largest and most recognized group of exhibiting fine art photographers in New Jersey under the direction of Nancy Ori of Berkeley Heights.
Monthly meetings of both groups encourage attendees to share expertise and advance their skills and are open to all with an interest in photography with a modest entry fee.
