Chip Forelli will share his shooting techniques and discuss how to think about shooting for a new portfolio on location. The evening sessions will include night photography, technical discussions, and presentations of both Nancy Ori's and Chip Forelli's portfolios.
We are going to spend a lot of time talking about your images, talking about creating a cohesive body of work as a personal project, how do you approach that and think about it while you are shooting and editing your work, what will the final project look like: an exhibit, a self published book or a box of images; and what printing techniques might be necessary to give them a cohesive look.
There will be discussions about selecting the right paper or canvas, where to get the materials, finishing techniques, how to prepare for an exhibit, how to deal with galleries, the business side of fine art photography, and how to think about a book project and prepare your files for a self published portfolio book.

Natural Light Workshop
OUTDOOR PHOTOGRAPHY

Florals, architecture, seascapes, and marsh land will be our subjects at different times of the day to reveal the many colors and moods of light. Discussions will include: the camera and controls, lenses, light and light modifiers to create a cohesive composition and mood, a discussion of HDR a more advanced lighting technique that is currently popular, using color for impact and cropping for emphasis. There will be daily trips to local landscapes followed by critiques of your work. Tap into the expertise of a veteran shooter. There will be a balance of learning between the technical and creative aspects of photography. All levels welcome.

OUTDOOR FLASH
with Nancy Ori in Cape May
May 4-7
Learn how to shoot flash outdoors and have a lot of fun playing with all kinds of light sources that you might find around the house, hardware store or in your camera bag. Let's learn how to use the stuff you already own! The list will include: pop up flash, shoe-mounted flash units, hot lights, studio strobes, flashlights, book lights, lamp light, LED lights, and any other light source that uses electricity or a battery that you want to bring along.
The goal of the workshop is to explore lighting as a form of creative expression and think outside the box so you have confidence in any situation you might find yourself.
We will also try out a whole host of accessories to shape the light. Some of these will be home made and really cheap versions of expensive items on the market and others will be the expensive ones so you can see if there is really a difference. Bottom line, we will be photographing indoors and out during the day and evening. All levels are welcome.
