in Cape May, NJ
Watercolor
Painting with
Mindy Lighthipe Using
the seascape, landscape, architecture and still life materials
found around Cape May to inspire any level of watercolor painter.
The workshop runs April 25-29. Tuition is $385 plus a $15 materials
fee.
Pastels
on Location with Stan Sperlak Begins
with an overview of the basics in drawing, which is fundamental
to all successful works of art. Depending on the weather, there
will be an opportunity to join Stan Sperlak before the regular
sessions each day to paint the sunrise. Tuition for this workshop
is $295 and it runs May 6-9, 2007, ending at noon.
From
Pixels to Painting with Dot Bunn Explores
the techniques of manipulating your digital photographs to create
inviting images for painting. Dot Bunn will explain how artists
can use the image editing powers of Adobe® Photoshop® Elements
to pre-plan their next painting. The workshop will include on location
shooting with Dot and Nancy Ori of architecture, shoreline and
local gardens. Participants must bring their own digital camera
and laptop with Photoshop® Elements installed. Tuition is
$275. Until noon, May 6-9, 2007.
Oil
Painting in the Landscape with
Gerry Heydt A ‘plein
aire’ oil painting workshop for artists with varying levels
of experience. Tuition for this workshop is $350. It runs May 9
beginning at 2PM and ends on May 12, 2007 at 5PM.
Artists
of all levels, beginning through advanced, are welcome to attend any
of these workshops. General group sessions and demonstrations, as well
as individualized attention for each participant at his or her level,
will be provided at all workshops. Nancy Ori, workshop coordinator,
will also share tips on how to photograph your artwork, lighting for
indoor portraits and still life and how to take better pictures to
use as reference for paintings or drawings. Nancy will also open each
workshop and orientation session with a walking tour of the historic
area.
STAFF – Gerry
Heydt and Nancy Ori are on the faculty of the Visual Arts Center of
New Jersey. Stan Sperlak is on the faculty of the Art League
in Cape May. Mindy Lighthipe teaches workshops at Studio 16 in
Warren and is on the faculty at the New York Botanical Garden in the
Bronx. Dot Bunn is a well known Bucks County painter and teacher. Nancy
Ori is Founder and Director of the NJ Photography Forum, the Digital
Arts Group & the Heritage Workshop Series. She has years of affiliation
with the Ansel Adams Workshop in CA, the Visual Art Center of NJ in
Summit, the Summit Area Community Schools, Peters Valley Craft Education
Center, Somerset Art Association, Morris Museum and the Watchung Hills
Adult School.
SCHOLARSHIPS
-- In
existence since 1991, the New Jersey Heritage Workshop Series also
offers two scholarships each year funded by Jeiven Pharmaceutical
Consulting in Scotch Plains. These scholarships are for students
who wouldn’t be able to afford this experience normally. Interested
students need to apply to be considered.

are encouraged to bring a non-artist significant other to share the history,
beauty, warmth and shopping of Cape May.
REGISTRATION
-- Upon
receipt of the workshop fee, participants will be sent a schedule
of activities, materials list and suggestions for lodging. Participants
are responsible for their own accommodations, meals and transportation
during the workshop. Some inexpensive rooms are available at the
cottage where the workshop is held. Spouses or adult guests are invited
to all meals, orientation session and historic tour. For additional
