Remember the wonderfully
whimsical and energetic steel sculptures titled Garden
Angels and Angels
from Manhattan that we had on view at Brion
Galleries in Lambertville and The Artists Showcase in
Chester? Well, the artist who created them, Edward
Casagrande, is still hard at work creating new and divergent
sculptures. At his studio, appropriately named
Earth Orchestra, Edward manipulates a multitude of materials
to create ethereal artwork ranging from elegant pieces
of jewelry to entire garden environments.
This
summer, Casagrande is participating in the Festival
of Arches which is being hosted by the
Hamilton Main Street Area Association . The Earth
Orchestra bench, titled Cosmic Plinth, pictured
above and right, is for the installation project
known as The County Seat. Hamilton
is, not surprisingly, the county seat of Ohio’s
Butler County. Benches designed by
38 artists with historical, geographical and cultural
themes, will line High
Street, Main Street and the bridge. These
installations are sponsored by The City
of Sculpture of Hamilton. Other
participating artists include: the City of Sculpture
artist-in-residence Dennis Baker, University of Cincinnati
professor Ray Miller, and Chicago School of the
Art Institute graduate Ben Ervin. Saturday,
June 16th, Edward Casagrande’s Cosmic
Plinth was judged to be BEST IN SHOW! Congratulations
Edward!
