The Painterly Garden: Oil Paintings by Cathy Lang
A Solo Show in the main Parlor Gallery

MEET THE ARTIST JUNE 23, 4-6 P.M.

Beginning Saturday, June 9th, Brion Galleries in Lambertville, NJ will feature the oil paintings of their most popular artist, Cathy Lang, in their main parlor Gallery. Approximately sixteen works will be on view, including both garden scenes and interior floral portraits. Lang, whose work is frequently compared to that of matisse by gallery-goers, is known for her bold use of jewel-tone colors and for imbuing her work with her personal passion for life. lang's newest garden scenes have beome incresingly spontaneous -- alowing her stream-of-consciousness under-painting to guide her in the creation of the floral forms. Conversely, Lang's still lifes have develped an intense complexity -- sometimes incorporating Abstract and Surreal elements. In her newest paintings, Lang has used not only oils, but also oil pastels and gold leaf to create unexpected textures. The painterly Garden will remain on view at Brion Galleries through Saturday, August 25, 2001.
