Artist’s
Statement
My
painting are my life and my world view. They always contain
a duality of hope and despair. How can you understand or appreciate
joy without experiencing pain.
As
an expressionist, I garner insight from everything around me. When
I paint, I do so in one sitting – listening to the same music
over and over again. This enables me to sustain a consistent
vision and intensity, allowing my canvas to come alive with the feelings
inside
me. The passionate style of Van Gogh and the
moving,
painful images of Edvard Munch have been the
biggest
influences on my work. |
