Biography continued… Born in Queens, New York, Cathy received her first set of oil paints at the age of sixteen. Most of her formal art education, however, has taken place in New Jersey – at the Hunterdon Art Center with David Leese; the Art Workshop in Boonton with Bill Guida; at the Montclair Art Museum; and at Creative Canvas in Newton with Tina Crowley.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT My work has become increasingly spontaneous. My still-lives are more complex – now containing more opposing patterns and fanciful perspectives. Conversely, my landscapes have become more fluid as I strive in this genre for the elegance of simplicity. Continued on next page… |
